KIOSK: Tonylight

Tonylight (Antonio Cavadini, IT)
Space LED V.2, 2006 - 2008

LED sculpture, animations, 15 x 10 x 5 cm
Courtesy Fabio Paris Art Gallery, Brescia, Italy

Tonylight is an artist, designer and musician based in Milan, and working with light, obsolete technologies and 8bit platforms. Space LED is a series of sculptures produced assembling manually, with neverending patience, 192 LED lights on a screen. The work, controlled by an old 386 machine, visualizes a series of simple 8bit images coming from obsolete Gameboy cartridges, such as Space Invaders. Tonylight looks back with childish nostalgia to the beginning of the digital era, when, mostly through games, the first electronic lightnings hit our fantasy, imprinting unforgettable images, aesthetics and colours in our memory.

Tonylight is part of the KIOSK-gallery, curated by Yves Bernard and Domenico Quaranta.
